Behind the beauty who owned Mount Bromo, there are people who live there. They called the Tengger tribe. Tribes that have lived on the slopes of the bromo have been living here since hundreds of years ago. There is no record of exactly since when this tribe lived in this area.


This tribe has a majority Hindu religion.. They believe that they are descendants of the kingdom of Majapahit (great kingdom on the island of Java). The name "Tengger" is derived from the name of "Roro Anteng" and "Joko Seger". "Roro Anteng" and "Joko Seger" is believed to be the first person to stay in this location.


To be able to see the culture of the Tengger, you should come on when they do Kasodo ceremony. Kasodo ceremony is an annual ceremony that is always held by the Tengger tribe. The ceremony was held at midnight to early morning every full moon around 14 or 15 in Kasodo (tenth) according to the Javanese calendar. This ceremony is a symbol of thanksgiving to their God "Sang Hyang Widi". In this ceremony they ask the gods to be given a bountiful harvest, prosperity and avoid all kinds of diseases. In exchange they also brought offerings to be thrown into the crater of Bromo.


In the evening peak Kasodo ceremony, held performances of dance that tells the origin and history of the Tengger tribe. Many tourists who attend and participate in this ceremony. They come from other cities in Indonesia and even many who come from overseas. This ceremony is eagerly awaited by the tourists. because the ceremony is only held once a year. Many tourists from abroad took attend just to come and witness the culture of Tengger which is very amazing.



Besides Kasodo ceremony, Tengger tribe also have another ceremony that "the Feast of Karo" and "unan-unan", traditional ceremonies associated with a person's life cycle, such as the birth ("Sayut Ceremony", "Cuplak Puser", "Tugel Kuncung"), married ("Walagara Ceremony"), death ("Entas-Entas ", etc.), traditional ceremonies associated with agriculture, build houses, and natural phenomena such as "Leliwet" and "Barikan".

Museum of Indonesia is one of the museum which is located in Indonesia. Museum that was built in 1976 this is antropoligi and ethnology museum. This museum is called anthropology and ethnology museum because the museum is themed on ethnic and cultural diversity in Indonesia.


This museum is located in the area of "Taman Mini Indonesia Indah" or TMII, North Jakarta. This area is a tourist destination area were very often visited domestic and foreign tourists. Which makes the museum of Indonesia different from other museums is very typical architectural style Balinese architecture. Where the building is decorated with ornaments and typical Balinese statues. Also with the gateways and towers at the corner of this building increase the beauty of the building with typical Balinese architecture



Mrs. Tien Soeharto was the initiator of the establishment of this museum. Her love to the art and culture of Indonesia made his plans to establish a museum of art and culture themed Indonesia. A Balinese architect named Ida Bagus Tugur is the architect who developed this museum building. The building of this museum contains a philosophy of "Tri Hita Kirana". The philosophy is a symbol of the presence of the three sources of human happiness. Three sources it is human relations, human relationships with the environment and human relationships with God. Museum of Indonesia was inaugurated in 1980. The museum building inauguration coincided with the commemoration of the founding of 5 years "Taman Mini Indonesia Indah".


Museum of Indonesia has 3 floors. And on each floor has a different theme.

First Floor :
The first floor has the theme "Bhineka Tunggal Ika" (different but still one). On this floor contains an exhibition of traditional clothes and wedding clothes from 33 provinces in Indonesia. here also there is a diorama puppets and musical instruments typical of Indonesia. On this floor we can know the diversity and richness of Indonesian culture consisting of language diversity, culture, customs and religion in Indonesia.

Second Floor: 
The second floor has the theme of Human and Environment. Here the objects displayed traditional form of traditional houses, places of worship, granary. Also there are houses with placement based environment such as houses stage, tree houses and also various other types of traditional houses. You can see the diorama cultural life and the traditional ceremony in Indonesia. Also various tools used everyday by tribes in Indonesia. Such as a fishing, hunting tools, agricultural implements, etc. Basically an explanation of the interaction between Indonesian society with nature and the surrounding environment.

Third floor:
The third floor has a theme of art and skill. There exhibited a wide variety of traditional crafts and new crafts. The handicrafts such as songket, batik and weaves are display here. there are also craft wood carving and metal objects originating from regions in Indonesia. In closing on this floor there is a giant tree carving as high as 8 meters and has a width of 4 meters. This carving shaped "Kalpataru" tree or also called the tree of life. This tree symbolizes the five elements of life: water, fire, wind, earth and sky.


Every year in the museum of Indonesia has always held a grand exhibition that always has a different theme such as gun exhibitions, puppets exhibitions, dance exhibitions, etc. This is very interesting place to visit. Monas, anyone who has ever come to Indonesia would know this one monument. Monas or Monumen Nasional (eng. National Monument) is a landmark of the Jakarta city which is the capital city of Indonesia.


This monument has a height of about 132 meters and has stood for more than 50 decades. The monument was built on September 19 of 1961, and began to open to the public around July 17, 1975. The entire building is covered by schist, and at its peak there were torches bronze weighing 14.5 tons and gold coated 35 kilograms.
